It is important that you learn the guitar parts, otherwise you will not understand some of the things that I talk about in the guides and the course, such as “fret” or “neck”. Study the picture and remember the parts – not too much work I hope?

I just want to emphasize that the nut is exclusively the piece of plastic that holds the strings in their place at the junction between the ehad and neck. It may also be referred to as string holder.
Here you will see the names of the strings that are unfretted (loose) and in standard tuning. That is the tuning you will learn from in this website. The big E represents the thickest string and the small e represents the thinnest string (it is written with a small e since it has a higher pitch than the other E).

To remember their names you can memorize the following (or make your own memorizing verse):
eel Brains Grow Donkeys And Eggs
The bold letters are the strings´ names from thinnest to thickest.
Make sure you have learned all of this before starting the first lesson.
Important note: In the lessons I am going to refer to the "thick E string" as being the lower E string", and the "thin e string" as being the higher e string.
This is because the thinner e string has a higher pitch (it sounds brighter) than the thicker - in other words it would be the musically correct thing to say.
Make sure you go through the other guides as well before you begin with the beginner's course.
